Employee Appreciation: The Blueprint for a Certified Great Place To Work®
In my two-decade journey within the Customer Experience (CX) industry, from my start as a frontline agent to President of Latin America and the Caribbean at Alorica, I've witnessed the transformative power of talent development. As we approach Employee Appreciation Day, it's a significant moment to reflect on our blueprint for crafting a Great Place To Work® (GPTW) in 5 LATAM/Caribbean countries and the Philippines, ensuring our employees have access to a thriving workplace environment tailored to their needs.
Nurturing Talent for Growth
The foundation of success lies in identifying passionate individuals who embody our values and nurturing their potential through opportunities and tools for growth, as highlighted in Forbes' insights on internal mobility. One way our organization is intentional about this is by implementing initiatives like LEAP and Alorica Academy, which provide executive leadership training and global career development pathways. As a result, 83% of our leadership positions in LATAM/Caribbean are filled through internal promotions, with over half of them being women. Additionally, our recent GPTW survey highlights the importance of satisfactory growth opportunities for our employees.
Empowering Through Inclusivity
Inclusivity and diversity are not just buzzwords; they are vital differentiators of a more cohesive and fair workplace culture, as noted by CMSWire and the Great Place To Work® Institute. DEI programs like Alorica’s TIDE (Together for Inclusion, Diversity & Equity) empower employees to connect locally and globally on topics like gender stereotypes, unconscious bias, and mental health. This approach has driven significant strides, with 60% of our global workforce and 48% of leaders being women, earning recognition through awards for gender equality like "Best Company for Women" and "Achievement in Developing & Promoting Women" and our GPTW certifications.
Impact Beyond Work
As a leading employer, prioritizing potential over traditional markers through impact sourcing practices can drive community growth. My journey with Alorica, starting in 2004 after a 6-month unemployment period in construction, has allowed me to drive the company's growth and extend opportunities to newcomers in the CX industry—underscoring the cascading effect of impact sourcing. These career prospects bring in new income that can have a generational impact, enabling reinvestment in communities. Through our partner non-profit, Making Lives Better with Alorica, our employees feel empowered to make a tangible difference, raising over $8.7 million since inception through local chapters led by Alorica volunteers, supporting various community initiatives.
The mantra that “family takes care of family” is especially true for a Great Place To Work® organization. As we celebrate Employee Appreciation Day, I thank the incredible individuals who make Alorica an exceptional workplace. Our pursuit of excellence is driven by our commitment to nurturing talent, championing inclusivity, and creating an environment where everyone has the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
